AppShield to Safeguard Israeli Visa Credit Card Company Web Site and Customer Data
Santa Clara, Calif. - May 8, 2001 -
Sanctum, Inc., the established leader in automated Web application control and
security software, today announced that the Israeli credit card company, Leumi Card,
has joined Sanctum's customer base. Leumi Card will integrate Sanctum's AppShield
within the security architecture of its Web site. The Leumi Card Web site, which
allows customers to carry out banking transactions and receive the status of credit
card purchases online, requires maximum protection of customer data.
The first solution to provide eBusinesses and Service Providers with continuous,
autonomous protection against Web application perversion, AppShield secures Web
sites by detecting, blocking, alerting administrators and logging any type of
application manipulation through the browser. AppShield enables enterprises to
focus developer resources on new products and services rather than debugging and
patching existing applications.
"Leumi Card currently provides services to 400,000 customers," said Igal Naor,
Operational Manager, who is responsible for information systems at Leumi Card. "Our
objective is to ensure maximum information security in addition to the high service
level we provide. Sanctum's security solution is an important component of the security
system for our online service."
Sanctum's United States customer base includes industry leaders in banking, retailing,
finance, government and telecommunications. Several Israeli e-commerce companies
have also deployed AppShield, including Nice, Israel Electric Corporation and as
well as banking and securities trading companies such as FMR, the Israeli Stock
Exchange and Playsis Gambling of the Moritz Tuchler Group.
"With time-to-market demands rising, a shortage of trained security professionals
and the frequent use of third-party applications, Web-based applications are
becoming increasingly vulnerable to penetration by cybercriminals," said Sanctum
CEO Peggy Weigle. "It is particularly critical to secure online banking applications
where cybercriminals can access valuable customer information and corporate intellectual
property, steal online identities and falsify transactions through the Web browser.
To ensure consumer privacy, application-level security must be addressed as a serious
issue that requires management to make proactive and responsible decisions."
