Industry's
Only Automated Web Application Security Solution Features
Improved Manageability and Performance
Santa
Clara, Calif. - June 5, 2000 - Perfecto Technologies, the established
leader in automated Web application control and security software,
today introduced AppShield 2.5. The latest generation of the
company's pioneering Web application control and security solution,
AppShield 2.5 delivers a 30% improvement in overall performance,
features dramatically improved manageability and ease of use,
expanded support for Java Script, enhanced log viewing and Global
ID. AppShield is available immediately for both Windows NT and
Solaris environments.
"One of
our primary goals in developing AppShield was to create an application
security solution that was both invulnerable to application-level
threats and flexible enough to be tailored to the specific needs
of a wide variety of eBusinesses," commented Peggy Weigle, CEO
of Perfecto. "We're continuing to add value to the product by
staying close to our customers and adding features and capabilities
that are important to them. The substantial enhancements in
AppShield 2.5 are a reflection of that effort."
"AppShield
2.5 represents a significant step forward in Web application
security technology," added Dennis Szerszen of Hurwitz Group.
"With growing speed-to-market pressures and widespread use of
third-party software, it is becomingly increasingly apparent
that eBusinesses do not have time or resources to effectively
protect their Web applications manually. With its improved performance
and ability to automatically adapt to any Web application, AppShield
is clearly paving the way to a safer eBusiness environment."
About AppShield 2.5
The industry's first
automated solution designed to secure eBusiness sites from application
perversion, AppShield provides continuous protection against
all forms of application-level hacker attacks, including hidden
manipulation, cookie poisoning, stealth commanding, backdoors
and debug options, and buffer overflow exploits.
Perfecto's advanced
Policy Recognition technology automatically infers the intended
security policy for each outgoing Web page, enabling AppShield
2.5 to provide existing and future eBusiness and third party
applications with on-the-fly protection against application-level
exploits. AppShield requires no modifications to the applications
themselves.
With AppShield 2.5,
Perfecto delivers expanded support for client-side logic (such
as Java Script), effectively plugging a common and dangerous
vulnerability. In addition, AppShield's new AttackTrack feature
delivers improved log viewing that allows site administrators
to determine the identity and methods employed by potential
hackers. AppShield 2.5 also introduces support for Global ID
for SSL (Secure Socket Layer) implementations common in the
financial service industry.
Offering centralized
management, AppShield provides a continuous real-time readout
of all Web site activity. AppShield is easy to maintain and
can either be installed either on a Web server or a stand-alone
box.
Pricing and Availability
AppShield is available immediately for both Windows NT and
Solaris. Pricing is $15,000 per server.
