AppShield's Real-Time Firewall Alerting Functionality Now Extended to Check Point Next Generation with Application Intelligence
SANTA CLARA, CALIF. — February 2, 2004 —
Sanctum, Inc., the established leader in automated Web application security firewall
and testing software, today announced that AppShield 4.5 has earned OPSEC
(Open Platform for Security) certification from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.
(Nasdaq: CHKP), a worldwide leader in securing the Internet. Through this certification,
AppShield 4.5 allows for seamless integration with Check Point's market-leading Next
Generation with Application Intelligence software. AppShield 4.0 was originally
certified with Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation software in March 2003.
AppShield supports both of Check Point's OPSEC interfaces, which allow AppShield
to block offending IP addresses and log critical security events to Check Point SMART
in real time.
A growing number of enterprises rely on Check Point's sophisticated security
technology for multi-layered defense systems. This OPSEC integration allows
AppShield to relay information about connections it is already blocking back
to Check Point's VPN-1/FireWall-1, and use this information to block the connections
from attacking other resources behind the firewall. AppShield 4.5 allows
fully-protected application segregation within the infrastructure providing
granular security settings to each individual application. With version 4.5,
OPSEC integration becomes even more vital, ensuring the right actions are
applied to the proper applications. This added functionality is an important
step in Sanctum's continued commitment to providing its customers with the
most current and compatible Internet security technology available.
"As information security needs continue to evolve, Sanctum is committed to providing
customers with easy-to-deploy application security and management within multi-layered security
infrastructure environments," said Steve Orrin, CTO of Sanctum, Inc.
"Sanctum's continued support and integration enhancements to AppShield 4.5
demonstrate that customers continue to prefer best-of-breed security solutions,"
said Upesh Patel, director of Business Development for Check Point Software
Technologies. "Through OPSEC certification, Sanctum's AppShield 4.5 seamlessly
integrates with Check Point's market-leading VPN-1/FireWall-1 Next Generation
with Application Intelligence software providing customers consistent security
enforcement, and an overall solution that is easier to manage and deploy."
